TAF Project sustainable fisheries

In 2019, I joined the University of Bedfordshire in Luton, UK to work on the TAF project (Implementing technology solution for sustainable development of artisanal fisheries in Santa Catarina (TAF). This was a joint project between a UK and Brazilian institution (Instituto Federal Catarinense) in the framework of the British Council Newton Fund Institutional Link programme and was funded by the British Council in the UK, and FAPESC in Brazil. The goal was to help improve sustainability of artisanal fish farms in Brazil through the use of IoT. We interviewed stakeholders, visited farms, and conducted workshops. The project resulted in the creation of Fishlabs a start-up that develops affordable IoT for water quality monitoring and automation. I helped the founders in the beginning stages of the company to build a knowledge base.
