FarmSonics at I Love Science and European Researchers Night

Last week I presented my S+T+ARTS #FarmSonics installation at the I Love Science Festival in Brussels. With other art installations, organised by Gluon, people could learn about food and agricultural sustainability. For four days, many people tried out the installation and I was happily surprised with all the positive reactions. People liked that they could design their soundscape, some compared it to ASMR. Visitors enjoyed the collaborative aspect and the easy way to understand the data and the corresponding sound. Many people saw the potential for farmers to gather insights from the data and the sonification. Friday was dedicated to school visits and the pupils who visited were all very enthusiastic and appreciative of the installation. Professor Pedro Reis from Universidade Lusíada came to Brussels as well to help me out and to see how I used the system he and his team developed.
Overall, I am happy with this exhibition and I hope that I can show it more times in the future. In any case, I am continuing the development of FarmSonics and
I want to thank the Gluon team for welcoming me and assisting in setting up and supervising the installation. Below are some photos from my installation and also of the Futurefarmers boat (to promote sustainable agricultural transportation) and the Algae Diplomacy project by Filip Van Dingenen and Hélène Meyer
On the 26th of September, I also showed FarmSonics (in Portuguese: Quintas Sonoras) at the European Researchers Night in Aveiro. Just as in Brussels, reactions were overwhelmingly positive. You can see some images in the Instagram post below.
